My cooking is inspired by my life. A lot of my childhood memories center around food and family parties. My Grandmother and Great-Aunt would cook authentic Italian feasts for my family to graze on all day and night. We spent our time laughing and eating the days away. One of my favorite things to do is replicate old family favorites and remember all the great times we had together over the years. Every time I make fresh pasta, I think of my Dad and Grandparents… When I’m roasting pumpkins, my Mom appears in my mind. I love memories like this, the ones that I can continuing growing for the remainder of my years.
My favorite recipes now are the simple ones that use the freshest ingredients available. I think it’s amazing when you’re able to create a meal with incredible flavor out of just a few ingredients. I really enjoy being able to taste each individual component by itself in addition to how it compliments the other elements in the recipe.
I’ve always been interested in cooking and baking. One day I realized that I was making the same things for dinner over and over again… So to keep things fresh, I decided to start cooking new recipes while developing new skills and sharpening the ones I already had. While sharing the process with all of you!
Two skills I want to sharpen are pizza making and baking breads. Baguettes, ciabatta, rolls, sourdoughs, sweet dough… any loaf that looks beautiful and tastes delicious, I want to bake! Fresh bread is one of my favorite things in the world, so I’m trying to learn how to make as many variations as I can.
I also love traveling to new places and trying the local cuisine. I bring those flavors, spices and textures back to my own kitchen with my own interpretation. The rest of my cooking inspiration comes from family recipes, magazine articles, websites and other bloggers.
In addition to cooking, I’ll be visiting markets and festivals, traveling to different cities and reviewing and sharing the food tips and dishes I found along the way.
Thanks for visiting, I hope you enjoy looking around my blog. If you have any questions or want to tell me how a recipe turned out, just add a comment and I’ll reply!
