Granola is a super food. You can add nuts, flax seed, chocolate chips, raisins, dried berries and fruit… Any ingredient you want, you can add and it’ll work wonderfully. Granola is completely versatile, I love all the different varieties. Plus, it makes a delicious snack or breakfast item.
My absolute favorite kind of granola is honey pecan. It is simple and incredible tasting, perfect for breakfast on the run. The ingredient list is small, allowing every item to stand out on its own. The oats have great texture and soak up all the other ingredients, blending everything together. Pecans and cinnamon are like brothers from another mother – they are a perfect pair. The brown sugar, honey and egg whites bind everything together while adding additional flavor and texture. A pinch of salt brings everything home and works nicely with the sweet elements in this granola.
Making granola at home lets you control the ingredients. You can make it sweet, savory, healthy… Whatever you like! Plus, it’s much cheaper and tastier than buying from a grocery storem in addition to being very easy and fast to make!
